Demonstrations
Esteemed Roboticists,
My name is Ryan Pettigrew, and I am the Demonstrations Chair. It is my goal to enable safe and effective demonstrations of the robotics technology featured in your papers.
We are providing demonstration opportunities primarily as a means of proving research and dissuading skepticism about the validity of its results. Frequently in high-tech fields, grand ideas rarely live up to the rigors of the real world. This is particularly true for robotics, where so many high-tech fields intersect. Demonstrating a robotics technology goes a long way to proving that technology as practical. Once demonstrations critical to presented papers are met, we will also consider demonstrations that are impressive or entertaining, if there are remaining opportunitities.
It is important to note, that due to these guidelines for demonstrations, and limitations on available opportunities, we most likely will not be able to allow a demonstration for all of our presenters. If your demonstration is not accepted, please remember that it most likely means that other demonstrations are more critical to confirming the results claimed by their respective papers. Also, whether or not you do a demonstration, or whether or not your demonstration is accepted, will have no effect on the acceptance of your paper or poster.
Please also keep in mind that we may not be able to meet the equipment needs of every demonstration. If the presenter of the demonstration cannot take up the slack in these circumstances, we will have to remove the demonstration from consideration. Nevertheless, we are currently open-minded about supporting demonstrations, so please be up-front with your requirements.
The demonstrations committee looks forward to your demonstration proposals. Proposals can be emailed to demonstrations@ieeerobot-tepra.org
